COMMON & NOT SO COMMON TYPES
Beyond "Diaries" alone, journals can be used for so many useful, helpful purposes. Let's try to capture a comprehensive list of types of Journals people keep:
- Meditation Journals, Yoga Journals
- Period Journals
- Self-Discovery / About Me Journal
- Reflective Journals, Nostalgia Journals
- Gripe or Grievance Journals
- Inner Child Journals
- Tears / Grief Journal
- Friend Journal (for kids discovering what it means to be a friend)
- Poetry / Nature / Symbolism Journal
- Fertility / Pregnancy
- BrainDump / Overwhelm Journal
- Gratitude Journals (text or scrapbook style)
- Travel Journals (text, polaroid or scrapbook style)
- Dating / Marriage Journal
- Art Journal ("Scrapbook" style)
- Vision Journal ("scrapbook" style)
- Parent - Child Journal (two-party)
- Trigger Journals: these are my fav for personal growth journalling purposes. Fun fact: As a Trigger Journal, I like to call them "Purge-to-the-Page" exercises. Or, if the emotion is anger, I like to call it "Rage-to-the-Page" LOL
OTHERS
Other uses of Notebooks and Journaling includes when you want to Log or Track various habits or track patterns:
- Dream Log
- Self-Care Log
- Food Log
- New Habit Tracker
- Appreciation Log
- Life-Quote Log
- Goal-Tracker
- Productivity Tracker
- Seasonal Bucket List Log
- Grief/Memorial Logs to keep someone's memory alive.
One of my Favorite uses of Journals is as a "Mini-habits" tracker. If you've never read Stephen's Guise's book called Mini Habits, you MUST! It's fantastic and will change how you approach forming habits. (And no I'm not an affiliate for him; his book is just fantastic!)
Just as with any habit you'd like to form, commit to Journaling just 5 words a day, and see where it leads you...
